Odoo or ERPNext?
Start with your workflows.
Both platforms can connect sales, stock and accounts. The useful question is which setup fits your processes, team and operating budget with the least unnecessary complexity.
Which ERP should your business choose?
Start with a small demonstration using your own business scenarios. Compare the steps your team needs to complete, the reports they need and the work required to close any gaps. A longer feature list does not tell you how well a system will run your operation.
Consider Odoo when…
You want to evaluate Odoo's applications and integrations against your requirements. Check the exact edition, version and hosting option before assuming a feature or custom module is available.
Explore Odoo implementation →Consider ERPNext when…
You want an open-source ERP and are prepared to plan hosting, maintenance and Frappe customization. Demonstrate your accounting, stock and manufacturing processes before choosing the scope.
Explore ERPNext implementation →Compare the setup, not just the software
| Decision | Odoo | ERPNext |
|---|---|---|
| Edition and licence | Community is open source; Enterprise is licensed. Verify which edition includes your required applications. | ERPNext is free and open source. Hosting, implementation and support still require a budget. |
| Customization | Check your deployment's support for custom modules and integrations before selecting hosting. | Agree which standard workflows are sufficient and where custom Frappe development is needed. |
| Indian accounting | Demonstrate invoices, taxes and reports for the selected edition and modules with your accountant. | Demonstrate your tax templates, invoices and accounting reports with your accountant. |
| Migration | Map source records, validate test imports and reconcile opening balances before cutover. | Use the same data-review and reconciliation process; verify links between imported records. |
| Long-term cost | Include any licence, hosting, custom modules, integration usage and maintenance. | Include hosting, custom apps, upgrades, integration usage and maintenance. |

A useful ERP demo follows a real order
For a trading business, demonstrate a quotation, purchase, stock receipt, delivery, invoice and customer payment. For manufacturing, add a bill of materials, work order and production receipt. Include one return or cancellation so you can see how exceptions behave.
Test the reports
Can your team explain stock on hand, outstanding invoices and margins from the same transactions? Agree the reports and totals that must reconcile.
Test access and approvals
Use the actual roles your team will have. Confirm who can approve purchases, edit prices, view financial data and reverse transactions.
Test one integration
Show where an order or update enters, how duplicates are handled and what happens when the external system is unavailable.
What will implementation cost?
ERPLaunch's full implementation projects start from ₹2,50,000 in India or USD 3,000 internationally. The final quote depends on the modules, users, data migration, custom development and integrations in the agreed scope. These are implementation starting prices, not software subscription prices.
Ask for a written separation of one-time implementation, recurring operating costs and optional work. See our published rates, then book a free scoping call to define your project.
Bring this checklist to your scoping call
- List the workflows that must work on day one and the reports you use to run the business.
- Count users, companies, warehouses and branches, including who needs approval access.
- Identify data sources, export formats and how much history must move.
- List required integrations and recurring third-party charges.
- Agree acceptance checks, team training, launch responsibilities and support coverage.
ERPLaunch implements both Odoo and ERPNext. We can review the fit before you commit to configuration or custom development.
